BLOG: Free Montana mass timber workshop & tour set for June 28, 2017

The "Montana: Mass Timber Rising" workshop will tour the SmartLam CLT manufacturing facility

Last spring, Forest Business Network (FBN) and community partners held a one-day workshop in Missoula, Montana, titled “Montana: Mass Timber Rising,” which exposed Montana businesses and government to mass timber products—such as cross-laminated timber (CLT)—and the key takeaways we learned at the 2016 Mass Timber Conference. Our key aim was to kick off discussions on how FBN’s home state can leverage mass timber to boost the state’s forestry, wood manufacturing, and construction industries.

That inaugural event was such a success and interest so high that we have decided to put together a second Montana workshop—this time in Columbia Falls—on Wednesday, June 28. The free workshop and associated tour of SmartLam’s CLT manufacturing facility will coincide with the Western Governor’s Association meeting just down the road in Whitefish. We hope to draw in not only interested Montana stakeholders to the workshop and tour, but also Governors and staffers from gubernatorial offices across the western U.S.

Seats are limited and we expect to sell out this free event, so don’t delay in saving your seat.

NOTE: FBN plans to assist other state mass timber collaborative/coalitions with similar workshops. Feel free to reach out and let us know if you’d like more information.
