The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation is requesting applications for three Woody Biomass Utilization GrantsBiomass Utilization Project Planning Grants

Eligible Applicants: private businesses, public entities, state and local governments, institutions, tribal and non-profit entities

Eligible Areas: general vicinity of Butte, Helena, Bozeman, or Whitefish

Eligible Activities: feasibility study, pre-construction (i.e. planning, design, permitting) of biomass utilization projects

Award Available: $10,000-$20,000 depending on region

Submission Deadline: December 14, 2011

 

Biomass Energy Preliminary Feasibility Assessment Grants

Eligible Applicants: public schools and institutions, non-profit and tribal facilities

Eligible Areas: see map in application details

Eligible Activities: hire firm to conduct pre-feasibility assessment for integrating a wood biomass energy system

Award Available: full cost of assessment, not to exceed $3,500

Submission Deadline: Round 1 closes February 7, 2012 – Round 2 closes June 7, 2012

 

Biomass Fuel Purchase Grants for First-Year Energy Projects  

Eligible Applicants:  public schools and institutions, non-profit and tribal facilities

Eligible Areas: see map in application details

Eligible Activities: purchase of woody biomass fuel for first year of operation of biomass energy system

Award Available: grant award equivalent to estimated annual cost of wood biomass fuel.  A total of $107,000 will be available for grant funding.

Submission Deadline:  Round 1 closes December 2, 2011 – Round 2 closes May 4, 2012
